A Serious Call to a Devout and Holy Life August 5, 2006

Well, as reluctant as I am to bring closure to the discussion of Mere Christianity, it really is time to move on.
What about William Law, eh? What is so great about this book?

This book pulls back the thin veneer of popular American Christianity to show that something more substantial and serious can be found in the past. It is a very practical volume with pointers for personal Bible study and prayer. I learned the importance of chanting the psalms out-loud as prayers from Wm. Law. You think you’re pretty good at morification? Law wakes you up to the fact that you’re only kidding yourself.
One of the nice things about this book is the little stories Law tells.
If you don’t read Law you are missing out.
Dr. Myron recommended it to me awhile ago. He really likes it. He may even think it is awesome, Joel.
I wouldn’t be surprised. You never have anything good to say about him. Does he know you go around casting aspersions?
