Old Year Bash December 13, 2006

Deborah is proposing a sort of bash at her house at 8PM on the eve of the new year.
“We can each bring a funny poem or a story, and we can do some other good things like drinking coffee and such. I guess I would like to ask because it might be too late for some people. Another option would be to have it on January 1 at 5pm, and we could make it into an informal bash.”
Some of the Idea December 3, 2006

From what we can tell right now, this is a rough idea of the people coming to the retreat
Zartmans = 2; Whites = 4; Nelsons = 2; Martins = 2; Carpenter = 1; Young Ladies = 2
Nobody else has spoken of trying to come or even desiring it.
What we plan to do: Arrive Friday evening and talk about Varieties of Metaphysical Poetry starting around 8PM or 9. Then Saturday have 6 sessions with each of the papers on each of our chaps. Then plan the next bashing season. Also, we will eat. If I can usurp some time to read a story and get criticism I shall certainly try. Then after church on Sunday we shall depart.
Katrina has a plan for the preparation of food and of the costs.

MY soul, there is a country
Far beyond the stars,
Where stands a wingèd sentry
All skillful in the wars :
There, above noise and danger,
Sweet Peace sits crown’d with smiles,
And One born in a manger
Commands the beauteous files.
He is thy gracious Friend,
And—O my soul awake !—
Did in pure love descend,
To die here for thy sake.
If thou canst get but thither,
There grows the flower of Peace,
The Rose that cannot wither,
Thy fortress, and thy ease.
Leave then thy foolish ranges ;
For none can thee secure,
But One, who never changes,
Thy God, thy life, thy cure.
